What Work is Taking Place?

As early as Monday, April 18, 2022, a new traffic configuration will be implemented at Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street to facilitate utility works. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one through lane at Dufferin Street. Northbound and southbound traffic on Dufferin Street will be reduced to one through lane at Eglinton Avenue West. All turns at the intersection will remain prohibited. This work will now take approximately six (6) weeks to complete and will be carried out in three phases (refer to maps). Please read carefully below the complete notice.

 

  • Phase One:  Traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will shift to the outer lanes and a work zone will be in place in the centre lanes. Traffic on Dufferin Street will shift to the west side of the road and a work zone will be in place on the east side of the road. All turns at the intersection will remain prohibited.
  • Phase Two: Traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will shift to the south side of the road and a work zone will be in place on the north side of the road. Traffic of Dufferin Street will remain on the west side of the road. All turns at the intersection will remain prohibited.
  • Phase Three: Traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will remain on the south side of the road. Traffic on Dufferin Street will shift to the outer lanes and a work zone will be in place in the centre lanes. All turns at the intersection will remain prohibited.

 

What to Expect

A new traffic configuration will be implemented at Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street. Noise from construction activities can be expected.  Expect delays while travelling through the intersection.  Traffic control personnel and/or a paid duty officer will be present, while the traffic changes are being implemented.

 

HOURS OF WORK

  • As early as Monday, April 18, 2022, for approximately six (6) weeks; the duration of each phase is listed below.
  • Phase One: Three (3) weeks
  • Phase Two: Two (2) weeks
  • Phase Three: One (1) week
  • Construction activities are expected to take place on Monday – Friday between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Work may be rescheduled or delayed due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Work may be longer or shorter than expected.

 

TRAFFIC DETAILS

  • Phase One:  Traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will shift to the outer lanes and a work zone will be in place in the centre lanes. Traffic on Dufferin Street will shift to the west side of the road and a work zone will be in place on the east side of the road. All turns at the intersection will remain prohibited.
  • Phase Two: Traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will shift to the south side of the road and a work zone will be in place on the north side of the road. Traffic of Dufferin Street will remain on the west side of the road. All turns at the intersection will remain prohibited.
  • Phase Three: Traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will remain on the south side of the road. Traffic on Dufferin Street will shift to the outer lanes and a work zone will be in place in the centre lanes. Traffic of Dufferin Street, south of Eglinton Avenue West, will remain on the west side of the road. All turns at the intersection will remain prohibited.

 

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

  • No changes to the current pedestrian routes are expected as a result of this work.
