Over the next few months, crews will be conducting several investigative works in the vicinity of the future Keele Station.

Metrolinx continues to build the Eglinton Crosstown Line (Line). It is now partnering with Crosstown Transit Solutions to design and construct the stations, tracks, and signaling system for the Line. Before starting construction on Keele Station, CTS will confirm and benchmark soil condition, noise and vibration levels, and the condition of buildings.

Keele map utility relocation Oct 2015

What work is starting?

  • Crews will conduct utility investigation to locate, mark and inspect underground utilities along Eglinton Avenue West from Yarrow Road to Keele Street.
  • They will also use hydro-vac equipment to locate utilities in catch basins along curb lanes in the area. Crews will cut approximately 60 test holes in the road asphalt to confirm the existing data of soil and rock condition in the area. The small holes will be cut along Eglinton Avenue West from Yarrow Road to Keele Street and on Trethewey Drive/Keele Street at Eglinton Avenue West
  • They will use heavy trucks and equipment in the area as crews move from one test hole to the next.
  • Crews will also be surveying properties to benchmark noise and vibration levels and the condition of buildings in the Keele Station vicinity.
  • This work may require workers to come onto your property. Where this is necessary, Metrolinx will coordinate with you, in advance.
  • While work is underway, nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear some noise related to the crews use of a hydro-vac system and heavy machinery.

  • Crews will begin work as early as October 5, 2015.
  • The geotechnical work will take approximately 10 days and will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Residents will be notified if further work is required.
  • The utility investigation work will last for up to 20 days.
  • The surveying work will last for a short duration.
  • Work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

  • Inspection activity will be visible in these general areas:
  1. The north and south sides of Eglinton Avenue West, west of Yarrow Road, and east of Keele Street;
  2. The intersection of Yore Road and Tretheway Drive to Eglinton Avenue; and

Traffic Details:
