Watermain Valve Installation at Avenue Station

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

In early January, work will take place to install a valve on the watermain under the south side of Eglinton Avenue. This valve will allow for isolation of the section of the watermain between Avenue Road and Highbourne Road. The closest address to the location of the work is between 253 to 263 Eglinton Ave W.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• The preparatory works include digging a trench to the depth of the watermain which will take approximately three (3) days. 
• A work zone will be set up on the south side walk of Eglinton Avenue, east of Highbourne during working hours and it will be plated during the night. 
• Pedestrians will be rerouted around the construction zone. 
• On-street parking will be impacted temporarily during the works. 
• To install the valve, a water shut off will be required. This work will be completed in one overnight period, to minimize the impact for the affected local properties. These properties will be notified separately, in advance of the shut off occurring. 
• Following the works, the sidewalk will be restored.

TIMING 

• Preparatory work will begin as early as January 2nd and take approximately three (3) days. 
• Preparatory work will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. 
• The overnight period and associated water shut off is planned for the week of January 8th. Affected properties will be notified separately and in advance.
