What Work is Taking Place?

The north side pavement reconstruction works at Eglinton Avenue East and Birchmount Road will be moved to July 6/7 (from June 29/30). The guideway work in the centre of Eglinton Avenue East will now be in place as July 8th.

Hours of Work

  • Work  will begin on each Friday before these weekends, and will continue during regular working hours (7am- 11pm) and overnight during the weekend (11 pm- 7am) until the intersection re-opens the following Monday morning.
  • Regular work throughout the six weeks work will be performed between the hours of 7 am and 11pm
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.

What to Expect

  • Eglinton Avenue East remains open in both directions at all times.
  • No through north/south traffic at the intersection during the duration of the guideway work starting July 8th.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
  • During the guideway work at Birchmount and Eglinton, the following traffic restrictions will be in place in the surrounding area to accommodate TTC detours.

-          No stopping at all times on the south side of Comstock Road, between Sinnott Road and Birchmount Road.

-          No parking at all times on the east and west sides of Sinnott Road, between Eglinton Avenue East and Civic Road. 


  • The restrictions will be in place as soon as July 5th, 2019 and for the duration of the works.
  • Restrictions will be in effect at all times.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
