What Work is Taking Place?
As part of the ongoing pavement reconstruction works at intersections along Eglinton Avenue East between Victoria Park Avenue and Birchmount Road in support of construction of the future surface stops, crews will be conducting pavement reconstruction works at Hakimi Avenue and Lebovic Avenue intersection along Eglinton Avenue East. Work began in November 2018 and will continue with two (2) weekend intersection traffic restrictions of Hakimi/Lebovic Avenue as early as the weekend of June 1-2, 2019 and the weekend of June 8-9, 2019.
June 1-2 weekend - No traffic will be permitted south bound on Lebovic Avenue.
June 8-9 weekend – No traffic will be permitted north bound on Hakimi Avenue.
Hours of Work
- Construction activities will begin on each Saturday at 5am to 11pm and overnight during the weekend (11 pm- 7am) until the intersection re-opens the following Monday morning.
- Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.
What to Expect
- The paving reconstruction will be completed over two (2) weekends.
- Full restrictions to north-south traffic.
- East-west through traffic will be maintained.
- Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
June 1-2 weekend
- One (1) lane of traffic in each direction at the intersection along Eglinton Ave E will be maintained. Traffic will be shifted north along Eglinton Avenue East and Hakimi/Lebovic Avenue intersection.
- No traffic will be permitted south bound to Lebovic Avenue.
- The north south crosswalk on the west of Eglinton Avenue East and Hakimi/Lebovic Avenue intersection will be closed.
June 8-9 weekend
- One (1) lane of traffic in each direction at the intersection along Eglinton Ave E will be maintained. Traffic will be shifted south along Eglinton Avenue East and Hakimi/Lebovic Avenue intersection.
- No traffic will be permitted north bound to Hakimi Avenue.
- The north south crosswalk on the west of Eglinton Avenue East and Hakimi/Lebovic Avenue intersection will be closed.
TTC Impacts
- TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
- Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
