What Work is Taking Place?

In support of construction of the future At Grade stops, crews will be conducting wet utilities relocation work along Eglinton Avenue East between Birchmount Road and Rosemount Drive. Starting as early as December 3, 2018 and lasting approximately four (4) months, crews will install new pipes, and replace manholes and catch basins. The work will be conducted in stages.

Hours of Work

  • Beginning as early as December 3, 2018 for approximately four (4) months.
  • Time: work will be performed between the hours of 7am and 11pm, five (5) days a week.
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.
  • If overnight work is required, we will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.

What to Expect

  • Catch basins, manhole replacement and pipes will be installed between Birchmount Road and Rosemount Drive. The work will be performed within a protected work zone.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
  • Heavy truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone can be expected. In addition to construction activity, expect to see equipment, material storage and movement within designated work zones.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Temporary sidewalks will be provided.
  • Center medians will be permanently removed.
  • A minimum of two (2) lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained.
  • Left turn restrictions in and out of driveways.
  • Work zone will be on the north and south sides during stage 1.
  • Work zone will be in the center of the road during stage 2.
  • Center left turn lane removed.
  • Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians to alternate route
  • All left-turns at major intersections will be maintained.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work site.
