What Work is Taking Place?
Crews will be pouring the concrete foundation for the Brentcliffe Portal. Work will be conducted within the existing work zone located on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street. Due to the large size of these concrete pours, work will start at 3:00 a.m. in order to complete the pour during daytime hours, reducing impact to traffic in the area.
Hours of Work
- The first pour is scheduled for Thursday, August 3, at 3:00 a.m. and is expected to take approximately 8 hours to complete. Additional pours will be scheduled later in the summer, and will be communicated separately.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect noise in the area caused by loaders, trucks concrete pumps, and other construction equipment.
- Truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone (approximately 6 trucks per hour).
- Trucks a will use white noise/broadband back-up alarms. Broadband back-up alarms, unlike traditional truck back-up alarms, are only heard within the work zone area.
Traffic and Pedestrian Details
- Trucks will access the work zone from the west side of the portal at Brentcliffe Road and exit from the east side, west of Leslie Street.
- Existing traffic and pedestrian staging will remain in effect. A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street will be maintained.
